Heritage as Aesthetics

Lloyd Choi Gallery(LCG) and Schoeni Projects Interiors (spi) debut at Sotheby’s London this November as part of Asian Art in London 2025, with parallel exhibitions exploring heritage as a living, creative force. The collaboration shares a vision of honouring tradition while embracing experimentation, approaching heritage not as a static legacy but as an evolving force — shaped by craftsmanship, renewal, and continuity as much as by symbolism and materiality. Together, they offer new perspectives on how artistic practices connect past and present.

The collaboration begins with an intimate, by-invitation preview staged within a Victorian heritage home — an environment that underscores the theme of lived-in heritage — before opening to the public at Sotheby’s. For this showcase Heritage as Aesthetics, Nicole Schoeni, director of Schoeni Projects, curates her Victorian London residence as a living exhibition, placing inherited antiques in dialogue with contemporary works by Chinese and Hong Kong artists, alongside highlights from Lloyd Choi Gallery’s ceramic practice. The showcase presents heritage as both personal and collective, showing how domestic settings can open new ways of thinking beyond conventional art-historical categories.

Exhibition runs until 23 November.
