Insung Cho South Korean, b. 1960

Overview

Insung Cho is an artist, collector and dealer specialising in Korean antiques. Working with damaged furniture from the Joseon dynasty, Cho reveals its enduring beauty without returning it to its original condition. For Untold Beauty, the artist transformed the tops of three distinct sobans—small dining tables traditionally used for individual meals—into contemporary occasional tables. Their low wooden supports are replaced with tall, individually crafted metal bases, adapting the historic forms to modern life while preserving the character of each original piece.
