Lee transforms pre coloured ramie remnants from Hanbok ateliers through hand stitching and Ottchil, a natural tree sap lacquer. The lacquer deepens the colour and stiffens the delicate fabric, creating a richer, more tactile surface.
Light transforms the work: against daylight, the translucent ramie reveals its delicate weave and luminous colour, while softer interior light brings out the deeper, almost bark like character of Ottchil, evoking the living presence of the tree from which it originates.
